If it was my $1000 drone, I'd be pissed. The drone is not violating anybody's privacy...

Give me a break! Most of those guys would have been asking for a copy of the video. the operator was probably on the other end of the field at the time.

The iPhone operator would be completely visible behind their iPhone. The drone operator could be at the other end of the field or some where else entirely, hidden. Out of sight kind of like a coward would be.

How do these kids know that the drone operator's intentions are benign? These drones have been in the news a lot, mainly from killing people. I get that you're all upset on the drone owner's behalf. Oh well. I hope you survive this.

I'm not but there are a few million brown people who are.

What I am is amused that a kid downed a drone with a soccer ball. It was a great shot! I'm also amused at you being "pissed" that the kid did it.

You come onto the field you live with the risk you have voluntarily assumed. In this case the operator lost. The airspace above the field is part of the playing surface.

it might fall out of the sky and hurt someone!

(Seriously, I think that would have been a valid reason for whoever was supervising the practice to ask the droner to stop. Or if the drone had been flying more intrusively, which it was, I guess: if you're in ball-kick-range over a soccer field, you're in the game-space. But yeah, if the person was right there, then a request to modify his/her behavior would have been appropriate.)
