“I hope that you don’t think that all the Muslims are like this, that all the Arabs are like this."

Abdouss, who lives in Morocco, explained:

“What happened was a crime, it was a horrible terrible crime. These people should be caught and should be brought into justice, and as a Muslim, as a Morrocan, as an Arab, I just want to say that it is really sad and that I want to extend my deepest condolences to everybody.

“I hope that you don’t think that all the Muslims are like this, that all the Arabs are like this. Because they’re just a very small minority, a really, really small minority, and not even a minority, just a couple of crazy people.”

He’s not really exaggerating. The total number of Muslims in the world is estimated to be around 1.5 billion. The number of ISIS fighters? Around 31,000 – and almost all concentrated in Iraq and Syria. Do other, more moderate Muslims support ISIS? Despite claims by right-leaning news organizations like Fox News which say tens of millions of Muslims sympathize with the terror organization, the facts don’t support the idea. According to a closer look done by Georgetown University, the “millions of supporters” number evaporates under scrutiny.

It’s important to remember: The majority of ISIS’s victims are other Muslims. The refugee crisis in Europe is, in part, created by the terror that ISIS has brought to the region. They are not loved. They are reviled.

Now I want him to say it in the town square of what ever town he lives in.

I think you will find a few more than a small minority will be stoning him to death
almost immediately for it. He can't do this because there are more muslims that
agree with these maniacs than we are willing to admit. We want to believe its
only a minority because we can't admit that more people in this world hate us than we
can possibly understand. In the middle of his statement he even gave the justification
for these attacks and by saying it he agrees with the terrorists. "everything is connected
and if you intervene in someone else's business your going to get hurt".
So tell me...who's business did these innocent people in Paris get into that they deserved
to die? WHO'S?

See my post on manny's bernie video of the iraq war on this same page.

If this guy could go out in his town and say these things without getting beheaded
then he might be able to change others views who are leaning toward supporting Isis.
This is not possible in his world...which is the problem!!!

I rail against the violent solution that these extremist always use against other
innocent people. Now you might argue that they are French and France is helping
us in Syria....but you can't blame all frenchmen for the acts of their govt.
anymore than you can say I'm responsible for the Iraq war, when I didn't vote
for the Bush/Cheney war crimes machine.

Now...go back and read the rest of my original comment about what this guy sajd
in the middle of his video and the rest my comment about the innocent people who
died in Paris.

and I know all Muslims aren't terrorists but they have enough propaganda behind them to be persuaded into thinking the attacks are justified retaliation for.. whatever any country did wrong, real or perceived. The question is, where do we go from here? Stopping the NRA from lobbying congress to let any jerk buy a machine gun is a good start. Outlawing weapons in all public places of gathering would be another. Ooops, that's socialism. I fergit alot.

As I recall, Pope Francis said something similar during the Charlie Hebdo thing, something about if you offend your Mother you can expect to be punched. In his own offhanded, charming, Papal way, he was sort of justifying the killings and blaming the victims. They had "offended" Islam and got what was to be "expected".

This particular young man seems to be a nice guy, but his thinking is a bit muddled, and he did as you said: he justified the atrocity. So, while he says don't think all Muslims are like those who shot up Paris, fine, but how many other Muslims think the same way as he does: that if someone "intervenes" in Muslim "business", they get what they "deserve"? Even innocent people who didn't intervene?

Is ISIS not a part of "true" Islam? Did they not cite the Koran when they asked French Muslims to get off their asses and join their holy war against the "infidels"?

I listened to the video. What was missing was "I'm sorry, our religion was used as a basis for these acts". There was regret, but no collective responsibility.
Imagine you making a video acknowledging a terrible IRA act in N. Ireland (this would be a few years ago), but you never said "I'm sorry my religion is mixed up in these acts. All Catholics are not terrorists nor support this".

p.s. People do seem to hear what they want to hear in the video.
