In all this media training he's getting. Not ready for prime time let alone leader of the free world. Republicans are becoming increasingly unhinged. That's the real story.

His norm being somewhere between somnolent to zombie. As the Republican front-runner, I'm glad we finally get a look at his eyes. Nowhere near as scary as Michele Bachmann's Charles Manson eyes or Sarah Palin's cuckoo peepers, but at least the guy finally looks like he woke up. And he has the excuse that all his claims were made while he was dreaming. The conservative base will swoon over that. He's been in a godly trance this whole time.

"Finances

In financial disclosure forms, Carson and his wife reported income of between $8.9 million and $27 million from January 2014 to May 3, 2015, when he announced his presidential campaign.[60] Over that period, Carson received over $4 million from 141 paid speeches; between $1.1 million and $6 million in book royalties; between $200,000 to $2 million as a contributor to the Washington Times and Fox News; and between $2 million and $10 million as a member of the boards of Kellogg Co. and Costco Wholesale Corp.[60] He resigned from Costco's board in mid-2015, after serving on it for more than 16 years.[6

The same people that pay living wages to their employees? The same Costco that is off on holidays? That Costco?

Has to be a different Costco. No way a Republican who wants serfdom was a part of a company that does the opposite.

the City of Detroit continues to be a highly (racially) segregated city; but, in 1968, it was even more so. The Detroit school systems did not begin to integrate it schools until 1971.

There would have been no white classmates to hide.

Rather than what may or may not have happened decades ago.

Earlier today, an African-American friend -- who is a practicing physician (as well as a veteran) -- shared this link on her Facebook page. Because of my respect for her, I instantly liked it.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Ben Carson is Terrible for Black Americans

Then I sat down and read the article. I encourage you to do so as well.
It would be time (pardon the pun) well spent.

Jonas Salk was one of his lab assistants.

Carson: "Jonas worked so hard with me on this. When I made the final breakthrough he said "What should we name the vaccine?"
As you know, I've never been one to blow my own horn.
"Jonas, let's name it after you. You put in a lot of hours."
"Really, doc? THANK YOU!"
The rest is history."

31. The Whole Story Seems to Be Fake
Mon Nov 9, 2015, 11:45 PM
Nov 2015

It is really sad that it is beginning to seem that his whole story is fake. So, now there is a chance that he did not grow up in a poor neighborhood. Are we at some point going to find out that his mother knew how to read/was a good reader?

Ben Carson is turning out to be like those fake rappers. The ones that claim to have grown up in the projects, sold drugs, been in gangs, and went to prison, but then it come out they lived in middle class homes where both parents had college degrees, they never sold drugs, were never in gangs, and never went to prison.

32. In fairness to Carson, he did NOT claim to have APPLIED FOR a West Point scholarship.
Tue Nov 10, 2015, 01:52 AM
Nov 2015

He merely claimed to have been offered one, on Memorial Day by General Westmoreland.

At the time, West Point did indeed use the term “scholarship” to describe the free ride they offer to all of their prospective students (in return for a commitment to serve in the military after graduation or otherwise leaving West Point — failure to do so puts the student on the hook for tuition and other costs accrued during their stay there) in their official marketing materials. He claims to have turned down the offer so that he could study medicine at Yale (despite the fact that West Point has a very good pre-med program and would also have paid for his medical school, since the military needs competent medics), so the lack of any record of him applying in no way contradicts what he actually asserted in his biography.

Carson was definitely mistaken (at best) about who he got the offer from, or when he got it, since records show that Gen. Westmoreland wasn’t in Detroit on Memorial Day of that year, but was in Washington, D.C. playing golf at the time that Carson recalls getting the offer. That said, Westmoreland was in Detroit in February of that year, so it’s possible that he did make such an offer to young Carson then, and Carson subsequently conflated the two events in his memory (human memory is quite fallible in this regard).

He is definitely wrong, but not in a way that can be shown to be outright fabrication as the linked articles claim.

He is absolutely incompetent to be President or indeed anything other than a neurosurgeon, though. He seems to be an autistic savant: very skilled in one very narrow field, and practically retarded in almost everything else including basic common sense. I’m just not willing to call him a liar based on what can be explained by faulty memory.

...it has ALWAYS been a process involving a nomination by one's member of Congress or Senator for open slots. Once one is in, one is NOT on scholarship. You are on active duty with the United States Army. Period. End of story.

Make shit up often? Troll.
