TYT: Ireland Passes HISTORIC Drug Policy Reform

Ireland has taken a huge step toward ending the war on drugs, by decriminalizing marijuana, cocaine, and heroine use in the country. Cenk Uygur, Hannah Cranston (Think Tank), and Hasan Piker (Pop Trigger) hosts of The Young Turks discuss.

Do you support Ireland’s efforts? Do you think the United States will ever follow suit? Let us know in the comments below.

“Ireland plans to decriminalize small amounts of heroin, cocaine and marijuana. If you’re keeping score, abortion remains illegal there.

An officially sanctioned shooting gallery is also coming to Dublin by early 2016, said Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, the chief of National Drugs Strategy on Monday, according to the Independent. Subsequent “supervised injecting rooms” will follow in Cork, Galway and Limerick.

In addition to changing the stigma, Ó Ríordáin’s bold suggestion is motivated by a hope that this type of policy will decrease the number of new HIV/Aids cases caused by intravenous drug use.”

addiction is an illness...treat the addicts for their illness...do not criminalize them...

Makes sense...saves lives...keeps young people off drugs...Repukkkians will never support that solution...

Cenk is speaking to legislators. Most legislator's understanding of illegal drugs is just about the equivalent of very young children.

I believe she's only on the main show during the second hour, but she hosts several other shows on other TYT channels, and whenever they do an 'event' panel (e.g. the debate coverage the other night) she's on it.
