We need a political revolution.

(18,652 posts)really, that is the purpose of the NRA. But they spin the issue so the RWnuts think it's about their "rights." IF they're so much into they're rights to have as many guns as they want, why don't they have a "well regulated militia"?

(15,038 posts)There are, on average, 30 to 36 people killed by gunfire every day in the US (most are suicides).
It's been 1116 days since Sandy Hook. 30 times 1116 = 33,480.
So that's it, give or take a few dozen, or even a couple hundred, or a thousand if we will -- the numbers remain and the reality is not dimmed by a handful of lives either side of the equation.

(15,143 posts)Call, write, and email your congress-critters, your senators, your state representatives, your governors. Fill their mailboxes with your outrage! Ask them for universal background checks. Write letters to the editor and encourage your neighbors to do it too. The NRA can't afford to primary all 535 members of the House and Senate!

(581 posts)shooter. This ex council woman, Marilyn Kettleman of Roseburg, OR said more people need guns to stop the shooting. She is against any gun laws. So this is a huge conflict whether more guns or better laws are the answer. This council woman said that is students had been armed they could have taken out the shooter. I guess she doesn't know there were armed individuals on campus since it is a concealed weapons carry campus.

(631 posts)Whenever there was a mass shooting, gun owners would complain that "every time" this happens, gun control advocates crawl out of the woodwork demanding more gun control!
Nowadays, whenever this happens, gun nuts crawl out of the woodwork demanding more guns!

(24,713 posts)the Roberts court and what they did to the second amendment---------------in District of Columbia vs Heller
The Nation magazine has a great article 10.12.2015 this week on what the right wing court has done in this area and many others and this is why this election is important, it's about this court, and there judicial activism or "making law" in my opinion.
And they have blood on there hands just like any other politician that stands in silence---------------and makes this country into a combat zone
