(462 posts)There is no reason for any more American troops to kill and die in that part of the world. There MAY be a reason some day, but right now there is NONE. We still haven't paid for the last ten years of wasted war over there, and the American people should not be picking up the tab for the rest of the world's problems. If there are problems in an area, let the locals work it out, or not, between themselves. Most conflicts in these areas do not affect us in any way, and we should not be in most of them. If our corporations want someone to protect their financial interests, let them pay the local police and military to guard their profits. The American taxpayer should not have to guarantee the profits of any company in a foreign country. Or here either.

(59,504 posts)It was interesting that Colbert asked him about the connection he was reported to have made in an emotional last day meeting of all the ministers right after they agreed to the Iran deal. Wendy Sherman had described that Kerry himself had chocked up when speaking of this -- and that it brought tears to the eyes of many of his peers. Obviously, many of them saw what Kerry did -- they might have precluded what would be a terrible war.
In a time when many comments are political or cynically chosen, this is another time where Kerry showed exactly what has motivated him.
