Two superheroes have foiled a plot to kidnap Oilers’ captain Andrew Ference.

Six-year-old leukemia patient-turned-superhero SpiderMable joined forces with Spider-Man after Ference was kidnapped by the villainous Mysterio.

Mable’s mom, Lisa Tooke, says her highlight of the day was Mable’s reaction when she was first pressed into duty.

“That very start where she saw the little newscast calling for SpiderMable,” says Tooke. “And at first that disbelief in her eyes, and then a slow smile appears, and then a big grin, and then a ‘let’s go!’”

SpiderMable started her day by meeting with Mayor Don Iveson, followed by a police briefing at EPS headquarters. From there, her search led her to West Edmonton Mall, where they rescued Spider-Man’s ally Black Cat, then off to the Edmonton Valley Zoo where they were able to corner Mysterio and save the day.
