https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=1&v=XS9XF8L2gaIHouston, TX A video uploaded to Facebook over the weekend is causing quite the stir online after it has gone viral. The video shows 22-year-old Jesse Valdez, business owner and college student at Prairie View A & M University, being forcefully arrested by a deputy with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constables Office.
The video, which was taken by Valdezs brother, starts with Valdez on the ground with the officers knee in his back. The officer quickly handcuffs him, but he continues to apply pressure into Valdezs back.
According to the police, the officer approached Valdez and his brother after seeing him on a hoverboard, which are not allowed in the mall. The malls policy is to ask guests who violate this rule to leave, but, according to Valdez, he was never given that opportunity.
I rode around the mall one time before I was approached by the officer, Valdez said. The officer asked me to get off the Segway, and I asked him if this is a rule, or the law that I have to get off the Segway, recalled Valdez. Instead of politely answering my question, he used force and took me off the Segway.
After the officer took him to the ground, he continued to dig his knee into the back of Valdez. The crowd becomes agitated as it appears that the officer is inflicting pain for no apparent reason. He even goes so far as to place the taser in the back of a handcuffed Valdez.
Eventually, multiple cops show up and the scene becomes quite tense with officers and onlookers getting physical. Not long after the calvary rolled up, did they remove Valdez from the mall.
The department has said that a use of force board will review the case to justify the officers actions. Police also said they are looking into potential charges against Valdezs brother for interfering with the arrest and inciting a riot.

(6,891 posts)Even if you try to comply but are too slow or threaten the officers by asking a question about their authority and your civil rights. People need to be very careful. Cops generally are not the sharpest knives in the drawer, and they live in a fantasy world where acts of violence against the public are the ultimate peer predictor of how well they do their jobs.

Excuse me, but aren't they already saying that they will "justify the officer's actions" - just looking for reasons.
This is as good an example of why we should empty the prisons and fill them up with our fine blue line. Mall guards, prison guards, Ferguson police, etc. The roles should be swapped.
This has GOT to stop. Do these officer's mothers know what jerks they are on the job? If that were my grown kid victimizing a much younger kid in such a brutal act, I'd disinherit him, get a restraining order, and do my best to get him fired. Whatever it took. All the kid needed was a warning and be on his way. That's how things went in my day.

(6,133 posts)I am not saying I have a choice. I'm too old, but when you see these videos, only the wrong type would be attracted to the police force.
They have to change their ways and attract the right type...the protect and serve type. I'm trying to say this cautiously. Maybe I'm failing at that. And I know there are terrific officers out there. But how does this help in recruiting the right type of person you need as a police officer.

(978 posts)to kick the cops face in right there...And highly tempting.
It's only a question of time when the public will collectively stand their ground against the criminal activity of these pigs..
