Thom Hartmann: The "Ticking Bomb" Below the Great Lakes

Spencer Chumbley, Investigative Journalist/Filmmaker joins Thom. There’s a pipeline ready to burst in Michigan. The Straits of Mackinac between Lake Huron and Lake Michigan are one of America's most important waterways. Could they be the site of the next big oil spill?

the damage. We, all of us combined, do not have enough money to cover the loss of the lakes. I say that as a fisherman and a drinker of water.

Most people are not aware of the fishing on the Great Lakes. Seriously, they do not know. What they miss is the greatest fresh water fishery in North America. I have fished Huron on the Michigan side and the Ontario side. I have fished Lake Ontario on the Ontario side extensively. They would have to arrest me if someone damaged these lakes.

a spill would cause a huge amount of damage and likely take years to fix and still more years for the Great Lakes to recover.
