I agree with Sam that this Sarah Palin speech is beyond anything she had done before. I tried to make sense of anything she said and gave up. I am glad they like her.

The frustrating act of trying to comprehend Palinese reminds me of the first couple of weeks of my first-year HS Algebra class. Sort-of. The major difference being that Algebra eventually makes sense with some applied effort and a patient teacher.

The problem with Palinese is that there are no known consistent rules and patterns to latch on to. Once an intelligible pattern is identified, it shatters right before our very eyes into thousands of fractured pieces, each with it's own pattern and meaning. So while the 12 days of Christmas might work for a portion of one sentence, and Dr Seuss another, there remains hundreds of pieces that have yet to be understood.

Palinese is the final frontier; it's like going where no man has gone before. It's a voyage that only the very brave undertake because there is no guarantee that one will return unscathed, or even return at all.

So thanks again Sam, et al. You guys took one for the team. But please don't try that again. We don't want to lose you.

Paranoia, fragmented speech patterns, intense anger suddenly displaced with weird attempt at humor (like she is sharing an inside joke), jerky body movements......

her thought process appears to be fragmented. Maybe she was a heavy meth user in high school.

Sarah's certainly trailer trash enough- She does seem to be aging badly (Although maybe we can chalk that up to no longer having the $800-a-day hair and makeup team she had in 2008) She probably has veneers on her teeth so it'll be hard to tell, but if they start to go all nasty I think that'll put any doubts to rest.

If she isn't on something, maybe she should be.

And, as disturbingly incoherent as she is, those mindless morons who slaveringly cheer her incomprehensible utterances are just as disturbing. Maybe more.

Indeed. And, yes, I really wonder about those who support her. Are they hateful, ignorant or mentally ill?

swing things her way. She starts out against those that made it impossible for her to become a cheerleader in high school. She turned to bad behavior of others who have targeted her. (Keep in mind the target over a Congresswoman who was shot.) Then she places another target over the media that she believes, made decisions to ruin her by carrying reports made by people ditching her. She is falling to the bottom of the bag of Nuts.

More research needs to be done; here is a starter page of sorts:

Adding this chant link:

Could she be referring to something happening in the 12 days after Christmas?

(Just lifted from upthread) so there is no excuse for not having this speech vetted.

If she trys to speak spontaneously, I think she sounds like she is channeling prayer language or speaking in tongues. Maybe you have to be hooked up to God to have an interpretation?

I've not listened to that staccato screech of hers in years ( and even then that was on a blaring TV in an airport terminal ) and could't bear to listen to her talk even being lampooned in videos here.

Well I just did. Holy shit. I can't believe even her most ardent fans wouldn't face palm themselves in embarrassment.

I liked the way they analyzed it too, and I came to much the same conclusions. Pretty much a 4th grade mish-mash of poetic-ish limericks that make no actual sense.

The whole speech was just one agonizing fail at being clever and cute: Zingers that are duds, insipidly weak rhymes, righteous strutting...all strung together in a faux cadence. As if she was trying to talk "smart" by the numbers. "What stupid people think smart people sound like" I've heard it said. So dead on.

And yet, my father and a couple of RW friends think she's the dream team all rolled into one person. Like she's "smart" but everyone else just doesn't see it. Really though, their logic goes something like this: She's great. She's "one of us" on our team. Smartness is a good and desired quality. We like her: Therefore she is "smart".

In truth, and at best, that speech sounded like a bunch of talking points which were half assembled into some sort of meaningless drivel.

Is it me, I do not get it?
