(13,887 posts)It's been replaced by the Third Way Democrats. Today's Republican Party is the John Birchers of the 60's and Barry Goldwater. The political spectrum has shifted so far to the right that an FDR Democrat like Bernie Sanders is considered so far left as to be 'unelectable'.

Tens of millions consistently endorse the mentality.
As "far" back as 1972, Nixon beat McGovern in 49 states.
They are stateless, and in it purely to game the system.
Turns out that lots of folk are good with that.

Folks, the Republican Party as we've known it since Reagan is NOT going away. When it gets too far "out there", which it has in recent years and the independent/fiscal sect is getting shaky, the Republican Establishment pulls it together and puts out a phony "Moderate" in which all the Republicans align - from the teatards to the Goldwaters to the Lincoln Chafees. And they're gurgling in recent months to do just that.
When was the last time we've heard from the teatards? The operatives of that phony "movement" took their millions that they milked from their bastions of minions since Inauguration Day 2009, cashed in and went home, leaving the group(s) broke and neutralized. Those duped minions aren't going to EVER vote Democrat or Independent - they will go Republican every single time, guaranteed - clinging to their fairy tale notions that ONE DAY it'll pay off as opposed to the thousands of times that it hasn't.
That's the bottom line, unfortunately.
