This cop escalated a non-incident into something where he slammed the woman's face into the pavement.

Where do they get these inhuman goons who treat people atrociously, and who they then back despite evidence in the video of what he did?

There's no way that cop was in the right. I hope public pressure brings justice.

got started with conservatives who didn't want to pay their taxes because a small portion of it went to pay for public schools- Since the public schools didn't allow prayer, they sent their kids to private schools that did. Since they didn't use the public schools, they didn't think they should have to pay for them.

By that logic, only billionaires should have to pay for defense, and frankly, I don't see why I should be paying taxes so that thugs can have better jobs than I do.

Most of it is not religious in nature, but racial.

Parents (mostly white) wanted to continue to send their kids to all-white schools.

but here, the stated reason was school prayer- Although it was a bunch of rich white people who were doing most of the complaining (Are minorities even presumptuous enough to demand line item exemptions on their tax bills?) so it's very possible there was that unspoken racial subtext too...

... is that enough people are fed up with the abuses by the police that mainstream TV reporters are willing to do stories--like this one--that are skeptical of the the statements issued by law enforcement spokespersons. It's a subtle change, but at least it's movement in the right direction.
