It was they who defined the "Dean Scream", they who played that snippet from his speech over and over again, and made his campaign about that.

Good luck finding incidents where the media isolates quotes from Republican candidates and makes their whole campaign about one thing they said, they could say things like above in the OP, they can accuse their own constituents of voter fraud, they can even admit to knowing people who commit fraud, and the media will never make them own up to it like they did with a 'scream'.
