(19,326 posts)Great find!! I'll be looking to see what a certain candidate's supporters have to say,
to help us answer Thom's questions re: this meeting.

(39,909 posts)This is the first I've heard that BLM notified the Clinton Campaign that they were going to invade her Campaign Rally and break it up.
The Hillary response was swift.BLM was diverted to another room, and held there until after the event and Hillary could meet with them off the record.
More will be revealed.
Thanks, Thom..... for asking the right questions.

(7,006 posts)This rogue element of Black Lives Matter (I.E. - The Netroots Nation Crew, the Marissa Johnson and the Interrupters Crew and now the Boston Let's Tell Hillary We're Coming Crew) are just that....either very suspect or PAID.
More insight is offered here: "Answering Marissa Johnson & The Interrupters Effect, #BLM Trolling Bernie Sanders" - by Independent Underground Radio LIVE 8/11 - Podcast

(19,288 posts)It takes several minutes of music and advertizing to get to the commentary.
It's nice to hear a response from a POC to the militant over throw of a schedualed peaceful assembly for a first amendment right to free speech.
Everyone got to have a little free speaking event in Seattle even if some disrupted, someone else's constitutional rights.

(2,474 posts)Did BLM phone ahead?
Was BLM intercepted instead of just being late?
All the reports I've read did say that the media were excluded. Are the two sides in conflict about who asked for that or is it a misunderstanding.
I tend to think Thom is jumping to conspiracy a bit too quickly.

(3,732 posts)Now that Thom has taken Bernie supporters to task for their knee-jerk reactions over the Seattle disruption, various folk are taking the opportunity to denigrate Bernie supporters for suspecting BLM members of collaborating with the Hillary campaign. Words like "conspiracy theorists" and "faux liberal racists" are thrown around to label anyone who dares utter that the opposition candidate may take advantage of circumstances in her favor or BLM members may be influenced by the Hillary campaign.
Well, prepare to call Thom Hartmann a conspiracy theorist and a faux liberal racist, because here he is considering whether BLM members raised their profile by disrupting the "minor" candidates, and then went into a private room with Hillary to negotiate for positions within her administration.
That seems to go even further than "paid a little walking around money", don't you think?
This information ostensibly comes from Black Agenda Report, but I can't find it. There is a piece on the rewards of disruption leading to collaboration: http://www.blackagendareport.com/blm_and_democrats_disruption_to_collaboration - However, this piece doesn't cover the Hillary phone call or private meeting.
Was the post that Thom is referring to deleted?

(20,317 posts)I see his statements in another thread being praised, along with lots of heavy condemnations of Sanders supporters for even suspecting some sort of collusion on the part of the Clinton campaign.
But Hartmann's comments here certainly seem to lead in that direction. I don't understand.

(1,638 posts)Trump if they want. We saw the same "who represents the movement" issue with Occupy; one guy at a camp decides to spray paint a bank, then suddenly we get "OWS supports vandalism" headlines. You'll get LaRouche supporters at just about any large progressive event here. This is always a problem with open movements. When you don't have a gate, you're allowing anyone to show up and do what they want, and say it's on behalf of the movement (and in many cases they might think it is).
(to make things more complicated, there are some individuals within the BLM movement who are saying they are part of a specific group called BLM)
The individuals who decided to protest at the Sander's rally (2-3 people) and the individuals who met with Clinton (~5 people I think?) combined are still a much smaller number than, say, the individuals (including Cornel West) who were protesting the DOJ on Monday (and got arrested), or who were part of the numerous demonstrations this week.
Incidentally, I saw a tweet from a prominent activist that seemed to show unhappiness with how the Clinton event went down (particularly since other BLM activists have already been working with her - as well as Sanders and O'Malley - on these issues).
