(489 posts)In 2008, I attended many rallies for Obama but one of the most impressive was Michelle Obama at NC State by herself.

(10,558 posts)You know, these guys: Eventually I removed my op instead of arguing with folks.
Of course Shiela Jackson Lee has more political creds but my reasons for wanting Michelle had nothing to do with her political creds. Michelle Obama, who btw descends from an American slave, could do wonders as Bernie's VP worldwide because much of the world loves her husband. Her charisma, her husband's coattails matched with the position of Bernie's VP would be very powerful. I have little doubts that Michelle Obama would make that position much more powerful than it is currently. I could easily see Vice President Michelle Obama adding a feminine face to a new, kinder, maternalistic USA. (God how I would love for the world to see us this way!)
She could be key to forwarding women's education worldwide, (The leading cause of our planet's over-population issue is arguably the lack of education among women). I could see Vice President Michelle Obama tackling the hard issues of racism in close conjunction with President Sanders tackling the equally hard issues of getting our poor some honest chances at achieving economic equality. (As has been pointed out by many others here, there is significant overlap to be found within these two issues).
If what I am thinking is accurate, VP Michelle Obama could be the next Princess Diana, equally loved at home and worldwide but in a position of significantly more power.
Yes AllFieldsRequired, this would be my dream ticket too.

(10,558 posts)It is very rare when Hartmann is at loss for words but when the caller suggested this ticket you could hear the gears turning in Thom's head as he mumbled (paraphrasing here but he WAS pondering it quite hard): 'intriguing....I hadn't thought of that...very powerful ticket...'
Tell you what AllFieldsRequired, I'll be attending the Sanders Rally in Seattle on the 8th. I've a friend who makes T-Shirts. I'll try to be there wearing a Bernie/Michelle 2016 shirt and we will see what we will see.

good on you to do that

(10,558 posts)It went down without flames but I was not getting even a little of the DU love you've gotten here which is why I felt compelled to pull it. I am quite encouraged by the names of our fellow DUers who have agreed with you. This is gonna rankle more than a few folks around here but in my opinion, there could be no fiercer ticket than Sanders/Obama. Even a Sanders/Warren ticket wouldn't generate that kind of turnout!
btw, I just now updated my sig line.
