Bernie Sanders wowed the audience at at a labor union conference Tuesday, calling them “brothers and sisters” and vowing to push an agenda they’ll like.

“A strong middle class is synonymous with a strong trade union movement,” the Vermont U.S. senator told the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Business Agents conference at a Washington hotel.

The Democratic presidential candidate vowed a “political revolution” that says to billionaires “you can’t have it all.” He pledged to push a “major federal jobs program that puts millions of people back to work.” He’d have the government invest $1 trillion over five years to modernize the nation’s infrastructure.

The audience loved it all, giving him standing ovations and lengthy cheers. Before Sanders spoke, Hillary Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, appeared in a brief video and said she, too was a big supporter of the union, which has 216,000 members in the United States and Canada.

It's no mystery why union would appreciate Sanders.

BTW, Sanders uses "brothers and sisters" when speaking to all audiences, not only union members. So, that was not artifice or pandering. That's just the way he sees people who are working toward common goals.

Lived up to my expectations before I even watched it. I too, am looking forward to the local town hall tonight. As of Monday, the venue was maxed out at about 70. And believe it or not, that's an ASTOUNDING response for this blood red district of California.

While there IS a local Democratic club, they're all - sadly - predisposed to her eminences eventual coronation.

I really liked what you said.

I am going to the venue tonight to take back this country and there are going to be about 80 to 100 other human beings that care.

I also live in a red district with one Andy Harris, he is absolutely worthless, he makes $174,000 a year and has done nothing for the district----------nothing.

I drive around in town and elsewhere with my..................

and these people are dumb struck that a “democratic socialist” is among there midst.

And when you speak about the issues like Medicare and the over head costs :

http://healthaffairs.org/blog/2011/09/20/medicare-is-more-efficient-than-private-insurance/

only has about 6% in overhead costs compared to the 17 to 25% that is in private insurance programs and you fully explain what this means they finally get it, at least some of them do.

Have fun tonight, we are going to take back this country, and I really like your paste about the 1% and the 99% that is so classic

Good to see Bernie is staying focused on working people's needs, and
the issues voters really care about, and it looks like union peeps also
"get it".

Go Bernie!!!!!

Between Hillary's support of unions and Bernie's support of unions. Hillary sends a brief video giving them lip service. Bernie makes a speech in person as a major stop in his campaign. In spite of all appearances, nobody needs to ask which side Hillary is on. Hint: it really ain't the unions. Likewise, nobody needs to question Bernie's total and genuine support for unions and organized labor. Working hard for the middle class and working people has been the centerpiece of Bernie's whole political career - it's what is lives, moves, breathes, and IS!
