1. OK, what to do here?

How about one little thing? I sent off emails to all my Congressional reps.

Here's the letter I sent off to Senator Boxer.

Dear Senator Boxer:

I. like many, am outraged and disgusted at the killing of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe. I have read that the EU is considering a ban on importing so called "trophies" from blood sports. Might our Congress consider such a ban?
It may not deter these people who slaughter endangered animals, but it would at least prevent their killers from gloating over their body parts in the living room.

I know you have a lot on your plate, but please consider this one small thing. I am also emailing Senator Feinstein and Representative Huffman.

2. Thanks for doing something positive

Unfortunately, I haven't got over the grief/disgust and I'm still vicariously reading all the hate mail going to Walter Palmer (and his dental practice) and wishing that I had sent it.

3. So do something positive!

Believe me, I would like to do something negative also. Like scraping a road kill skunk up off the road in a Fed Ex box and sending it to the guy with a note that said "since you like dead things so much…."

What good will that do long term?

We have no control over policies in Africa except through our own government. Admittedly, it is flawed and full of idiots (nicest word I could think of) but I do believe, albeit naively, that our government will still respond to pressure.

What I heard was this dentist has received many death threats, and has closed his practice and went "underground"
