Ohio governor John Kasich is the latest Republican to join the crowded campaign field in their race to the nomination. We now have 16 different candidates on the Republican side all vying for a single spot on the 2016 ballot.
Ring of Fire's Mike Papantonio and Farron Cousins discuss this.

(31,849 posts)this popular republican governor of a battle ground state gives me the most concern ... though we'll see how influential the crazies in his party are. The biggest gop-base knock on him, outside of Ohio, is he expanded Medicaid.

(50,983 posts)I think Kasich is their stealth candidate.
He has intentionally stayed out of the limelight while trying to appear moderate (even though he really isn't).

(35,345 posts)credit for the Obama recovery (auto bailout) and the Utica gas boom. He cut state funds to local governments to balance the budget. Meanwhile our secondary roads have potholes that are driving through a minefield. He just cut the top income tax rate by $1.5 billion then raised cigarette taxes by 35 cents a pack to pay for it. Typical Rethug.

(2,065 posts)He's not obviously whacky and fringe, so he'll be a serious candidate to consider as the race shapes up in earnest. And he's good with the fundraising, a real corporate henchman and go-to guy. This, and similar devastating policies in a war against the middle and working class of this country, make both him and Scott Walker two of the most dangerous candidates in the whole Republican field - in addition to Jeb Bush, perhaps.
