(2,888 posts)Not aluminum, and not a non-stick coated insert. Haven't found it yet (so I'm continuing to use my aluminum one). If anyone's seen a stainless-steel one, let me know.

(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]I don't really get rice cookers and make rice in my microwave: Water or broth, plus rice. Cover. 5 minutes on full power, then 20-30 minutes on half power (depending on the amount being made). It comes out great every time.
Why a special appliance for this one function?

(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]I've been working with the appliances I've already got for so long, which perform all the same functions, that I just don't see the point of another piece of equipment. It seems redundant.
Getting old....

(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]I did watch the video and it was very interesting - especially the part about the enormous varieties of rice available. I had no idea!
As stated just above, I've been cooking rice "my way" for so long with equipment I've always had that a special appliance seems an unnecessary duplication. Avoiding that kind of redundancy has always been part of my M.O.
If rice were a major part of my diet, I'd probably see it differently.
