I wish I could count how many times I've watched that movie! When I was a kid one of the local LA tv channels had a show, series, whatever you might call it, where they ran one movie every night of the week. (The Million Dollar Movie?) I watched Yankee Doodle Dandy every time it was on. And I think they must have done it every year at this time. LOVED IT. A major flashback for me, thanks!!

But he was absolutely great in this number. That he also made movies like White Heat shows his incredible range as an actor.

The second bit seems to have Mickey Rooney.

On stage and screen... and that in spite of his not that handsome and kind of a squeaky voice.
But he had the energy it takes.
