I still have my own personal issues with "gay-dom", but this man is light year ahead of me. Go America! I can be proud of my country for a moment, once again. How good that feels.

I'm a Vietnam veteran. I came close to giving up my life for my dedication to this country. I have been ashamed of my country so much, I often wonder what I was thinking. I saw many of my young friends DIE for this country, not realizing their dreams and aspirations. I know what we went over for was a mistake; but I've hoped that this country was worth the sacrifice we made, and my friends made for our call to service.

Today, I feel like it was worth it. I am PROUD to be an American, and I"m proud to have answered the call and came within a whisker of losing my life for this nation, because I think WE CAN BE a great nation on this earth.

I have been so disappointed with my country for so long. Even after electing this man as our President; the way half the country has responded to his leadership has shoved a dagger through my heart; but tonight....tonight, I feel proud to have done "my part" to support our nation.

I am proud this man is my President; and I'm so grateful he has the gift of speech that has paid respects to these wonderful human beings that we lost in Charleston this past week. I'm glad that he has stood for justice for the LGBT community to gain their deserved respect and independence.

He is not perfect, but he is one man. He is a gift to our legacy, and I am so grateful that I lived through this period of history when I can say I supported, I heard his voice, and I saw what he accomplished in his time. Thank you for YOUR SACRIFICE in serviing our country as Commander and Chief.
