President of Nye County Republican Central Committee arrested for impersonating an officer

SUSPECT(S):
William Carns, 45 years old, Pahrump

CHARGE(S):
Impersonation of a Peace Officer
Unregistered Vehicle
Fictious Regitration

DETAILS:
On 6/1/2015 at approximately 1428 Detectives with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office were in the area of Wal-Mart when they saw a vehicle that they had received information had a fictious plate on it. Detectives initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver/suspect. During the contact the suspect identified himself as a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer by providing his Metro Personnel number with the purpose of not getting a citation for the initial stop.

This vehicle and driver/suspect has been contacted on 2 previous incidents in which he claimed to be a Police Office by providing his Metro Personnel number to not get a citation.

The suspect was placed under arrest for the above charges and transported to NCDC for booking.

I know someone who is in tight with this guy...that's basically why I posted it. But if you go to the link I provided for the NCSO Facebook page and scroll down a little you'll see another item on former Deputy Attorney General Timothy Ryan Treffinger, who was arrested for "Heroin and various types of drug paraphernalia." The Deputy AG and a buddy were selling drugs out of his house and were not aware of the fact that NCSO had them under surveillance.
