(3,626 posts)The gun culture makes me angry, makes me sick, and makes me cry. I remember thinking after Sandy Hook, "Maybe now..." But no, the nuts are even more nutty.

(11,606 posts)I still cannot believe how powerful the gun lobby is. It's just sick.

(841 posts)I am an aberration.... A Liberal who believes in the right to own a Gun...
I have no issue with this Video..
Even I would not buy one of those Guns...
My Weapons all have a History as well....
All were bought new except the Rifles my Grandfather used to hunt Moose, and Duck in Canada..
Here is one for you all..
I live in Pomona California..
We made national news this week..
A Rookie L.A. Police shot a man dead just the other night just a block or two from my House..
The Story made it on MSN web page top story..
Here is more..
Type in Murders in Pomona..
All and I mean all are Criminal.. Most Gang related..
I now how well armed my Neighbors are...
It makes little difference..
All the Murders are committed by Criminals here.. Drive By Shooting is the norm..
The Murders go on and on..... Not one person yet has killed a Attacker in self defense to date here...
Fact is we are Americans and have the right to own the Guns..
So is it the Guns or the Criminals who are responsible???

Why would you feel the need to hold one for self-defense, then? (and I don't know if you do or not, more of a general question). The only reason I can see to own one would be for hunting or target practice. Do you agree with the use of guns as self-defense?
The right to do something doesn't imply that we should do it.
Also, why would the history of a gun matter to you when you buy it? It is a gun. It's the exact same as any other gun of it's type. Why would you not buy those, but you would buy others?
I love your username, by the way.

(25,699 posts)Yeah, that's the way it usually goes.
...yeah, seeing as how murder is a crime...

(4,517 posts)that's not really a gun store, luring customers with false information. Great idea huh? That's what the pro-fetus zealots do to unsuspecting women seeking an abortion. Not cool. Not cool at all.

(3,944 posts)It seemed the "owner" was merely telling the story behind each gun in the store.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's what he was doing. Nothing more, nothing less.

(68,644 posts)And, second, some of what were alleged to be for sale are not able to be sold legally in NYC.
So the whole thing was bullshit.
I imagine they had to run the show for several days just to find the few reactions they were looking for.

(28,498 posts)But I surmised they were not the actual guns but rather the same make and model as the ones used(?)
Kind of like the replica of the gun that shot Lincoln--
It makes a powerful statement.
It would have been impossible to get the actual guns.

(7,875 posts)But my angle was more like- so much of the gun crowd favor forcing a woman to watch anti-abortion horror films (euphemistically called "counseling" but I bet they'd lose their minds if they had to go through something similar before buying a gun...

(4,940 posts)Wouldn't work here - stuff is way too open and we're way too red, gun-wise, a state. Wish it would, though.......... sigh, that ole Democratic idealism raises it's weary head again!

(52,791 posts)Do they have the federal ffl to sell those guns ? Do they have the proper permits to even posses them ?

(948 posts)The point was to dissuade people from buying them. Im sure some teapublikkkan ammosexuals tried to buy them anyway though :/

(802 posts)And they are kept out on my very remote ranch property, far from urban crime, very securely hidden and locked away. Several are antiques, heirlooms from my late father. I'm very much a background-check's supporter, want there to be a much more comprehensive system for that. The horrific stories of gunshot victims from guns purchased "for protection" are inexhaustible. I have worked at trauma units that see these victims daily, many do survive thanks to rapid trauma intervention of a "poor shot" if it was intended to kill, and even more idiotic "accidents" but the victims regardless are scarred for life.
I know many former military who are also very protective of not allowing their firearms to fall into the wrong hands, and a few crazy idiotic gun-nuts who are totally uncaring where and with whom their firearms are placed. Its just the latter sort I'd love to remove gun ownership rights from....
Yes, there you have it folks! I'm gay and here to take your guns.
