TYT: Fraternity In Trouble After Sharing Nude Photos Of Passed Out Women

"A Penn State University fraternity was suspended for a year Tuesday after police began investigating allegations that members used a private, invitation-only Facebook page to post photos of nude and partly nude women, some apparently asleep or passed out.

A former member of Kappa Delta Rho at the university's flagship campus in State College tipped police off to the page, telling them in January that it had been used by members to share photos of "unsuspecting victims, drug sales and hazing," according to a copy of a police warrant obtained by The Associated Press.” *

They are just not the only problem on college campuses, especially when it comes to rape and other forms of sexual abuse of women.

Silent administrators.
Reluctant police.
"Slut-shaming".
The entire system of handling these attacks and events is pathetic.

If it were an epidemic of men having their penises removed by revengeful, objectifying rowdy women, the screams of protest and horror would shake the halls of power to their very core...but a women?, quietly crying in shattered despair?

*"Eh...she had it coming, should not have been wearing, you know, clothes." *sarcasm, in case its not obvious...

The things that happen at fraternity houses are replicated in apartments and shared houses across every college campus in the country. The guest lists may get smaller and more selected, but there is always the acceptance of random strangers into larger off-campus parties as well. More and more they happen in high schools and even earlier.

I am surprised that people still feign shock at ANY of this stuff.

Fraternities imbibing alcohol excessively? Clutch the pearls...whenever did this new trend arise?

Misogynistic treatment of women in situations involving alcohol, raging hormones, overly-entitled boys who believe women are objects to conquer and control (seen any beer commercials in the last 35 years?), and a disgusting justice system that makes it almost a crime to report being raped?

Really?
THAT is 'news'?

Even if the university banned fraternities tomorrow, by Saturday night another girl would be treated as an object or sexually assaulted/groped or raped or god forbid killed. This is NOT a Penn State or a fraternity problem.

This is a human society problem - the structural and systemic repression of women (and other minorities as well) in almost all human societies. For fuck's sake, there are right now indigenous tribes in the Amazon or Central Africa who are not immune to this scourge, and history is replete with examples of abusive treatment and subjugation of women too numerous to do justice to in a forum posting.

Of all the things that hold humanity back from reaching a higher potential - religion, bigotry and racism, greed, xenophobia - the mistreatment and continued subjugation of 50% of ALL HUMANS in the way women are paid, treated and considered by men is right at the top of the list.

The Sandusky/Paterno scandal must have put a HUGE dent in the quality of their student applicants. Frat house sexism, hazing and crime on Facebook -- what could possibly go wrong?
