(135 posts)IF GOD had approved of Daylight Saving time, he would have created the world so that the sun rose and set one hour later than it does.
That's why the Bible (and the Constitution) says nothing about Daylight Saving time.

(8,401 posts)It was the winter of '73-'74 -- I was in the 7th grade. Was very weird traveling to school, and arriving at 7:45 a.m., and still the sky was pitch black!

(11,012 posts)As we lived in farm country, there were no street lights and the house was a quarter of a mile from the road.
Full moon days were a great blessing that winter. There were many times that we dived for the narrow strip of land between the white wooden guard rails and the creek gully when cars were coming around the corner way too fast.

(2,065 posts)He just proposed it as kind of a joke, and never thought that anyone would take it seriously, my source told me. Does anyone want to research the history of Daylight Saving Time? Arizona just said, we have so much daylight, so much sunshine that we don't need to save it - or at least, that seems to be a reasonable conclusion as to why AZ doesn't have Daylight Saving Time. You might also be interested to know that the Mexican state of Sonora, which borders on AZ directly to the south, doesn't observe Daylight Saving Time either, although neighboring Chihuahua, bordering Texas and New Mexico, which both observe DST, does. And our last Pres, W, changed the "fall back" from October to November, so that little kids wouldn't have to trick or treat in the dark on Halloween - but heck - that's the whole point of Halloween, don't you think? To be dark and scary, like this trailer.

(14,175 posts)They say it was changed for farmers.
Yet Canada's main farming province, Saskatchewan opts out of changing their clocks.
I don't get it. Why not "save daylight" all year round?
One of the excuses is that in winter, people use that extra light in the mornings to drive to work. I say, in the morning, when you're on autodrive who cares how dark it is? IMO I'd much rather have more light when off work in the afternoon.
