ADT Locks Out N.C. Workers

On Feb. 13, ADT locked out 19 service technicians in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The workers voted for representation by the IBEW in 2013, and have been fighting for a first contract since then.

ADT says they locked out employees because they rejected the company’s final offer – which included wage cuts of up to 30%.

When Andrew Absher started working as a security technician with ADT, he looked forward to a good career that would provide for him and his wife in Winston-Salem, N.C.

But the young family got dealt a strong blow on Feb. 13, when ADT locked Absher and 18 of his co-workers out of their jobs. The techs have been trying to get a collective bargaining agreement since voting in 2013 for representation from IBEW Local 342.

The lockout came after Florida-based ADT refused to budge from its final offer, which would slash employees’ wages by up to 30 percent. The company has brought in outside contractors to do the work of the locked-out employees.

Andrew and his co-workers are ready to get back to work. Time for ADT to let them.

Worked for ADT in Calif for twenty years. We had a good UNION representation (CWA). If not for unions all workers would basically be slaves. Unions help ALL WORKERS Unions Or Not. FUCK SCOTT WALKER, FUCK THE KOCH BROTHERS, And Last but not at all least, FUCK ADT...!!!
