But we are not a healthy society...we are detached from people.

Two hours and nobody helped or even asked him (even if he needed to be escorted to a shelter or help).
The empathy gap is out of control.

(2,606 posts)4. The homeless I met in New Orleans when I was there for a couple of months...
just wanted to be useful to someone, they wanted to have a purpose. One was trying to give a couple directions while desperately clutching a banana peel (I got him some better food). When I was leaving, I gave another my left over groceries. He said "now I have something to give my grandchildren" his first thought was of someone else.
We have favored money and efficiency over people. Sad. At least Scrooge learned better. We "we" learn?
