(32,723 posts)He tried to break out of that role for a long time before finally accepting it. He even wrote a book called, "I Am Not Spock". I can understand why. All he had to look forward to was conventions dedicated to a show in the 60s that was canceled after three seasons. Compare that to a show like "Bewitched" that ran for eight seasons. If it weren't for the movies he would have never worked again.
The ultimate example of typecasting.

(17,216 posts)He was on Mission Impossible for two years, replacing Martin Landau, and had a lot of work on big and little screens and on the boards as well. He is quoted as saying that after Trek, he never worried about work again. He was a little peeved for awhile at being typecast after Spock, but the Vulcan remained his favorite character.
20 years after the first book, he published vol 2 of his memoirs. I Am Spock. Go figger.

(38,437 posts)In an absolute sense, it is cringeworthy.
I guess it's also a fitting tribute to Nimoy's singing career.
