That Bibi's own political future in this upcoming election was in such grave jeopardy is something that I had never even considered in this whole sordid affair. As Howard Dean said, "I would really like to know what's going on in Israel and their elections right now." The elephant in the room, no doubt. So, if Bibi's speech as a desperate move to win this election at all costs, by fair means or foul, and protocol be damned, can be interpreted as treason, then certainly Boehner's invitation can also be interpreted as such. None dare call it bilateral treason! The US Republicans relish poking Obama in the eye, but Bibi's political future may well depend on it. One silver lining to this dark cloud of international intrigue is that the Israeli electorate is starting to question or reject Netanyahu's hard line policies on the settlement and occupation of Palestine, it seems.
