#t=14And BillO's response today:
"I was not on the Falkland Islands and I never said I was. I was in Buenos Aires... In Buenos Aires we were in a combat situation after the Argentines surrendered."
vs what he said earlier:
I was in a situation one time, in a war zone in Argentina, in the Falklands, where my photographer got run down and then hit his head and was bleeding from the ear on the concrete. And the army was chasing us. I had to make a decision. And I dragged him off, you know, but at the same time, I'm looking around and trying to do my job, but I figure I had to get this guy out of there because that was more important.

So in response to getting caught in a lie, he lies about making the claim in the first place. If FOX were a remotely legitimate news organization, he'd get the Brian Williams penalty and be suspended immediately.

(8,200 posts)Did FOX fire him? Of course not. Did his audience abandon him? Of course not. It is a hopeless situation in which we can do nothing to correct it. The conservative faction is infected with hatred so intense that they oblivious to the truth. The masses of evangelicals and fundamentalists can go to church and claim they are following the teaching of Jesus and in the same breath condemn the poor and gladly starve them and their brood to death. They despise the poor and condemn them as free loaders who solely responsible for their pitiful condition. They are so consumed with self righteousness that they would actually welcome Swift's "Modest Proposal" as a viable and moral solution. When you are given a lemon make lemonade; so make the best of a bad situation and roast the kids and have them for dinner.

(37,449 posts)really the winners never set foot in Buenos Aires. At the most there were street demonstrations against the Argentine junta.

(21,768 posts)It reminds me of a reporter who said the media no longer covered gaffes of GW Bush because they were so common that they were considered "old news".
