Stewart is leaving his program; here's a look at him in his youth interviewing one of our most remarkable observers of the human scene:

(6,568 posts)This interview was from 1997, two years before he started on The Daily Show, but quite a few years after "The John Stewart Show (which originally aired on MTV before replacing The Arsenio Hall Show). I remember watching this when it first aired on HBO before a Carlin retrospective.
Now, I only say this wasn't his "youth" because he was 35 when he did this interview. I'm 35 now, and I don't consider this my "youth".

Trust me--when you hit fifty, or sixty, or more, you will regard 35 as your "youth."
Where you stand depends on where you sit!

(6,568 posts)As a musician, a lot of the older guys in the scene (60s-70s) refer to me and my crowd as "the young guys" or "the kids", which also lumps us in with the teens and twenty-somethings who have their own crowd, and we rarely find ourselves sharing a bill, let alone playing in the same clubs or playing the same style of music.

(15,373 posts)I am in the "or more" category. After age 35, I had two different professional evolutions and a second marriage ... so age 35 was, for me, a couple of lifetimes ago.
I still haven't decided what I want to be when I "grow up," but the second marriage is still enduring.

(135,425 posts)"grow up" either--past careers notwithstanding!
It's never too late to learn something new, though--that's my philosophy!

Shovel carefully~

(135,425 posts)I am not shoveling at all--the wind is still whipping like crazy, and I am seeing "snow tornadoes" outside the window...!

(83,898 posts)My neighbor shoveled my walkway again. I still am waiting for a plow to come through so I can get to my car and clean it. Thankfully it is not that windy here, just bitterly cold.
Stay safe~
MADem
(135,425 posts)I probably can't, but it could be a blown breaker and nothing worse. We'll see...
Ugh, off my ass and off I go!

Its is said by a late dear friend who was old and very wise..
You are not grown up until you are at least 35 years old...
So many of us here have now lived long enough to find this to be true...
I saw George last night on a re-run of SNL..
SNL is now 40 years old...
Where did that time go???

Just amazing............and to sit here and see it retrospectively - humbling, for sure
