10-Year-Old Pig Experiences Freedom for First Time in His Life

When we got an emergency call about a pig that had been abandoned and was in need of urgent help, we knew had to act fast.

Abandoned and left for dead, when Harrison the pig was finally found, he was completely crippled and starving to death. From the look of the massive bite wound on his back leg, Harrison had obviously had a run in with a wild boar, and he was in desperate need of medical attention.

Moving a 300 kg pig is no easy task, but armed with plenty of blankets and a whole lot of determination, along with all the extra hands they could round up, the kind-hearted people who had found Harrison managed to move him to safety.

Before arriving at the sanctuary, Harrison needed to receive medical treatment for his injury and regain some of his mobility. Thankfully, with a lot of care and attention, he was up and walking in just over a week, meaning that he was finally able to make the journey to the sanctuary.

Pigs are very intelligent animals. Its a shame some of them have miserable lives locked in miniscule enclosures.

I had a pet pig as a kid and they really are great smart animals. And cute too.

Disgusting to think how innocent animals are treated. It's why I'm vegetarian.
