Ukraine parliament scrap: 2 MPs brutally fist fight over bill

Two members of the Ukrainian parliament, Yegor Sobolev of the “Samopomochi” party and Vadim Ivchenko from the “Fatherland” party, were involved in a physical altercation in the halls of the Ukrainian parliament. Thursday, February 12.

The fight, which left both participants sore and Sobolev with a bloodied nose, allegedly broke out over a disagreement around a corruption bill.

The parliamentary committee has recommended the suspension of both deputies, preventing them from taking part in parliament sessions for five days.

That is a fact, not an opinion. Corruption is very important to the lifestyles of some Ukrainians.

It's probably even worse in Ukraine. Unlike Vietnam where the civil war came after a number of earlier conflicts over many decades, Ukraine had known seventy years of peace before this started last year. The civilian population which had known WWII is pretty thin on the ground today. This has been a sudden and horrible change in how people have always lived their lives. It must be crushing to them all.

is a basket case.

And if the necons have their way by continuing the military conflict, the land and its people will be worse than before Feb 14 when the crisis was implemented. Iraq, Vitnam, Libya come to mind. Prior to 2014, true the government was one of the worst on the planet vis a vis corruption, but it did have legitimacy and was doing a balancing act between the East and West, a balancing act that however fragile and ill-functioning was at least in some degree recognized by its people as representative of their interests.

John Kerry and Victoria Nuland should be proud.
