David brooks gave up "weed" for alcohol
And so did his alleged weed smoking "friends".

Legislating morality, it's what right-wingers do best

He gets it, he recognizes white privilege and actually acknowledges how he himself benefited from it.

It doesn't make you a bad person to acknowledge the existence of white privilege or to recognize that one can benefit from it (as long as one pays it forward though by helping progressive causes with use of that privilege).

In my book that cultural and political awareness makes him one of the good guys and I'll be watching his show even more now to see him pay it forward as he did with this bit of enlightenment to white privilege deniers.

I for one know of several people in my past (all white) that were dead to right when caught by police. Granted is was very small amounts each time. The cops just smiled and let them go. Even back then, it was no big deal to smoke it, and the cops knew it.

Chris quoted a 2 to 1 ratio. In my experiences with my white friends in my college years, it was more like 10 to 1.

Must make rich people richer. That's the most important thing in the world. What do rich people want? More. Of everything or anything. Just more.

The Federal government has been supporting heroin and cocaine against marijuana and psychedelics since the Nixon years.

leads to, heaven help us, hemp!!! As for psychedelics, everyone would be tripping and driving and they'd end up causing as many accidents as the texting motorists do now.

Love me some Chis Hayes. But his main point is not so funny at all. It is true the way the "justice" system separates us. And pot being a Schedule 1 drug is beyond any kind of sane explanation.

Peace

I have a similar story.

Except it happened to me twice.

I had no "connections" to speak of and have absolutely no earthly explanation for law enforcement's actions. I am a white guy, needless to say. This was back in the 1970s.

But it was a Republican convention.. and Republicans could probably get away with anything ..the cops would look the other way.
