Terrifying Footage of Mariupol Rocket Attack By Putin's Russian Proxy Forces

A deadly rocket attack on the eastern Ukrainian city of Mariupol has been met with widespread international condemnation. This has led to renewed calls for Moscow to stop supporting the pro-Russia separatists.
...
The Kyiv government and the pro-Russia rebels have blamed the shelling on each other, but investigators from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), who rushed to the scene shortly afterwards, concluded that the attack had been launched from the east and northeast of the city - territory controlled by the separatists.
...
The attack on Mariupol was met with widespread international condemnation, including from United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. A statement released by his spokesman said Ban noted that "rockets appear to have been launched indiscriminately into civilian areas, which would constitute a violation of international humanitarian law." "Ukraine's peace, territorial integrity and stability, intrinsically linked to that of the broader region, must be urgently restored," Ban added.

The European Union's foreign policy coordinator, Federica Mogherini, called on Russia to intercede to stop the fighting and withdraw its support for the rebels. "This further escalation of the open armed conflict has tragic consequences for a population greatly suffering already for far too long. It would inevitably lead to a further grave deterioration of relations between the EU and Russia," a statement released by her office said.

as much as some here still try and deny it and one has even said it was a false flag operation by Ukraine.

Human Rights Watch has previously documented how both sides have used Grad rockets in the war in eastern Ukraine. Evidence indicates that separatist forces were responsible for this attack: the Grad rockets struck government-controlled territory, the craters and rocket remnants stuck in the ground clearly indicate that the rockets came from due east, the direction of the frontline, and a rebel leader announced today that the rebel attack on Mariupol has begun in revenge for an attack Thursday that killed 13 people in a trolleybus in rebel-controlled Donetsk.

Grads are unguided rockets that cannot be targeted accurately, and are often fired in salvos from multi-barrel rocket launchers to saturate a wide area. Because of their indiscriminate nature, these rockets should never be used in populated areas, and their use in such areas is a violation of the laws of war.

I expect as in my posts on this, they will be very quiet.

Perhaps they staged the rocket attack, as a false flag operation to pin on the Separatists. The guy recorded here may have been sent to check and make sure no evidence of their involvement remained.

Just sickening

They almost **always** claim that the rebels bomb their own cities. Yet the west seems not to notice it.

Better to look at the situation and how it can be moved to peace. Unfortunately that won't happen and things will continue to escalate as long as Kiev talks more war.

This offensive is a DIRECT result of Kiev's open plans (openly proclaimed by Kiev on Ukrainian media but interestingly almost NEVER mentioned in western media) for three offensives this year. The rebels would not be sitting by waiting to die. That is just stupid. So this is all predictable.

If this is predictable and predicated by Kiev's proclamations of offensives, then why is all the focus on the rebel reaction and no work to deal with the causes and why the peace plan never really took? Why have there been no efforts to have UN Peacekeepers despite Russia stating they would welcome them?

The authorities in Kiev denied its planes had been involved. Initially, the anti-terrorist operation said the explosion originated from inside the building, then that an anti-aircraft missile operated by the separatists had misfired, reacting to heat from an air-conditioning system on the outside of the building.

But a CNN investigation in Luhansk has found clear evidence that whatever detonations hit the building and the adjoining park came from the air. The tops of trees were splintered, and a series of small craters -- about a dozen -- had been blasted in a straight line, starting in the park and reaching the walls of the building, blowing out many of its windows and spraying the area with jagged shrapnel. That's what appears to have killed most of the victims and injured 20 more.

Just like Kiev using Civilian planes as human shields (which of course never was properly reported in the western media), wars are not a good solution and always civilians pay a price.

Report from Donesk complaining about Kiev using Planes as human shields a month before Flight MH-17 was downed

Note, many videos conveniently disappear and the original account was closed. But you can search google by date and see it had been posted on youtube and liveleak before the plane went down and even see english transcripts placed on the web in early July.

" Terrible things are happening. For example an incident that happened recently. Passanger plane was flying by. And Ukrainian attack aircraft hid behind it. Than he lowered his altitude a bit and droped bombs on residential sector of Semenovka town. Than he regained the altitude and hid behind the passanger plane again. Than he left."

about that but when the "Pro-Russians" fire grads, mortars and artillery from residential areas, that is one of the risks you take when you get return fire.

It is amazing that the big Kiev offensive is to pull back and lose ground.

To defend donesk the rebels don't have a lot of choice, but again, Ukraine embeds deeply in civilian areas.

This video clearly shows Ukraine embedding not just fighters but tanks in civilian areas.

Again. Everyone should be pushing our government to pressure Ukraine to stop the war talk and genuinely move toward resolution. You can't make war "nice". Both sides are going to try and stay alive.

not tanks and did not fire a shot, no big guns. They are dug into defensive positions.

as opposed to actual firing from residential areas by the "pro-Russians". Where are they getting all of the resupplies from?

According to the cold warriors here all Ukraine weaponry is defensive and all Donbass weaponry is offensive.

What exactly do you want? Escalation? How does that reduce civilian casualties?

You make it sound like war is a fucking football game.

in your post.

I know you do not like that.

Nope, I want deescalation, and Putin can do it today by removing his tens of thousands of troops and equipment along the border with his year long "exercise".

Do you think he should do that to calm the situation down?

How about letting international monitors along the border and along the front lines in Ukraine. Should that be done?

they are also international monitors.

So a force would have to get into Ukraine without the OSCE monitors on the borders seeing it. Which is why I tend to believe the propaganda about Russian forces is simply that. Kiev's propaganda.

How exactly can you really get verifyable peace when you let one party off the hook? You have to put pressure on both.. that is unless you really don't want peace and there are other reasons you might want to see peace efforts really fail (not you, but I believe other actors want this, seems pretty obvious).

allowed at two border check points. How long is the contested border and how many check points are not monitored?

Check mate

Once again, Putin needs to pull his "military exercises" away from the border and deescalate the situation. Pull them back 100KM, he can still respond if something happens. He has no excuse.

have pulled out of the JCCC in Debaltseve as they are being attacked by the "Pro-Russians". I do not know how long the OSCE will remain in Debaltseve either.

At the JCCC headquarters in government-controlled Debaltseve (55 km north-east of Donetsk) the Ukrainian Major-General, Head of the Ukrainian side to the JCCC, was present together with his officers. Officers of the Russian Federation Armed Forces were absent as they are currently in Soledar (77 km north of Donetsk, government-controlled), with “DPR” and “Lugansk People’s Republic” (“LPR”) members. The Ukrainian Major-General told the SMM that on 22 January there was the shelling of Debaltseve, followed by tanks and infantry assaults, from the directions of Fashchivka (66 km north-east of Donetsk, “LPR- controlled), Chornukhyne (62 km north-east of Donetsk, “LPR”-controlled), Horlivka (35 km north-east of Donetsk, “DPR”-controlled) and Vuhlehirsk (48 km north-east of Donetsk, government-controlled). He also said that the most problematic areas in terms of security are Shchastiya (132 km north-east of Donetsk, government-controlled), Vesela Hora (131 km north-east of Donetsk, “LPR”-controlled), and Krymske (108 km north-east of Donetsk, government-controlled). According to the Major-General, intense fighting had also taken place in the area between the Donetsk airport and Avdiivka (14 km north-west of Donetsk, government-controlled).

I fear this will fall shortly as the agreed to cease fire is dead and the "Pro-Russians" are getting stronger after months of being supplied by Russia.
