Related: About this forumTake a look at the freaky right wingers on Thom Hartmann's SOTU "expert" panel on RT (Putin TV)
I feel sorry for Hartmann. His State of the Union discussion panel on RT included a dipshit Glenn Back/Moonie Times reporter as well as a former Miss Atlantic City who's now apparently an insane anti-abortion zealot with a fake "Dr." in front of her name.
Who the heck organizes Hartmann's guests? Maybe Russia Today picked them, stuffing the panel with anti-Obama fruitcakes that appeared normal to the Putin TV crowd. But Hartmann supposedly has full editorial control over his show, which would mean he or his staff picked these fools. I don't know which option is worse.
The Glenn Beckoid, Jennifer Kearns, just tries to pass off lame RW talking points throughout the whole thing.
At 10:50 Hartmann exposes the fact that he knows so little about his own "expert" guest that he presumes she has a PhD since she's "Dr. Gardner," and she just says no. Look at her freaky website and watch her bizarro comments on Obamacare & abortion at 7:10 that Hartmann gives a pass.
WTH?

right wingers on his shows as he likes to debate them and seems to believe it promotes more potential opportunity for them (and the audience) to learn.
He does this on his radio show as well.

(53,661 posts)Media, including the Kremlin owned but American based show Thom's on, is corporately controlled. He was run off other venues as the conservatives bought out all the radio stations, etc.
The billionaires that own it are media oligarchs, their function is to infect the masses with F.U.D., distrust of themselves, others, and democracy itself, and its government to resist the interests of said oligarchs, who have lots of friends...
Oh, yes, lots of them. Most are unpaid!
The media is very tightly controlled. Since it's not government controlled, most people believe it's a free press. It takes nerve to show up and face these fascists in confined quarters. They are psychopaths at best and masters of stochastic terrorism.
It takes nerve to be a Democrat, but it takes money to be a Republican.
~ Will Rogers
At times it looks like Hartmann is being tortured. Thom presented hard opposition to the Koch brothers and pointed out GOP shenanigans. Of course, the owners will demand that he give air time to their mouthpieces.
And it's not just the American MIC, it's the oligarchs worldwide who have a say, like the Saudi who owns a nice chunk of FNN (Fuckin' Nauseating Nuisance). They badmouthed the Iraq War in some of their venues overseas while selling it with guns pointed at Americans' heads here.
If Thom or Rachel or any ot them, who can't stomach the demise of any vestige of journalistic integrity, dare to attack the grifters in media or in real life, they will, like Keith or Phil, be gone and blackballed from getting another job. The sad thing is, many of the 'left' repeat the same smears as if they are fact finding about these guys. They end up unwittingly (hopefully) carrying water for the oligarchs. When the programming is interrupted for conservation with a real person, the program is still running, at no cost to the media owners. Very clever...
Character assassination has a greater power than a physical assassination, which is likely to make a suspicious, rebellious and thinking public resist the status quo the media supports. So I won't go after those who try to get a few strangled words of truth out in the face of corporate media fascism.
Obviously RT's owners didn't care earlier when Thom attacked the GOP and Koch brothers, along with the Birch Society... But then they put up Bircher Alex Jones to counterpoint the voice of Thom. So now this gang of RWNJs is out there to do something for Putin... But few will dare to ask, and fewer will ever know, what he is going to get out of this. A Libertarian world, perhaps.
We have no voice to speak out on it.
OH, AND BTW:
LEAVE THOM HARTMANN ALONE!

(6,419 posts)on his channel, but I couldn't find it, and came across this. I couldn't let it pass, it was just too weird.
But also, I find it interesting that the Putin sympathizers that post Hartmann vids always post them from RT, when vids from his radio show that are not RT are also available:
In other words, getting RT splashed all over is the motivation, and Hartmann is just being used.
oh and thanks for the pic, I will steal it now...

Thom looks less stressed and more like himself ithere, but FSTV and or DN don't get nearly the traffic RT does. You gotta admit, RT is very attractive visually.
Too bad its issue interviews are smothered in RW CT BS. It's the Russian FNN, IMO.
I still enjoy watching those long talks with Vlad. And the imperial trappings surrounding one of Planet Earth's reichest - I mean richest - leaders.

(6,419 posts)It seems that's where he proclaims his independence. As I've said before, I agree with Hartmann on most things, but he is just so horribly wrong on Putin, even on this non-RT radio show that it makes me wonder.

(3,982 posts)It is simply his style. I think he is maybe trying to "reach" more rational conservatives that may not be a totally lost cause.
Nothing nefarious about it, which is what i objected to (the attempt to paint it as something it isn't): The obvious insinuation by the OP that this somehow was evidence of something particular. Nothing right wing nor anything related to pressure or compromise involved. He has had this segment from well before he was on RT.

(28,498 posts)A: The law says individuals who get federal subsidy dollars must use their private money to pay for coverage of abortion except in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother. Claims that the new law will lead to a large increase in the number of abortions lack support.
Strictly speaking, the new law does not provide direct federal funding for abortion, except in cases of rape or incest, or to save the life of the mother the same rules that now apply to Medicaid coverage for low-income persons and to the insurance available to federal workers and military families. In fact, the new law states specifically that federal funds are not to be used for coverage of any other kinds of abortions, and that only premium dollars paid by individuals out of their own pockets may be used to pay for coverage of other kinds of abortions.

I would hardly interpret "rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother," to mean "all throughout Obamacare."
