2004: When a Canadian member of Parliament crushed a George W. Bush doll on TV

The CBC's "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" aired its 22nd-anniversary special last month. One of the segments looked back at the 2004 incident in which MP Carolyn Parrish stomped on a George W. Bush doll after referring to him as a "bastard" for going to war against Iraq. Here's a look back at what happened, with the follow-up:

OTTAWA (Reuters) - A Canadian legislator with a history of insulting U.S. President George W. Bush (news - web sites) has gone on television to deliver her latest protest, taking a cameo role in a satirical sketch less than two weeks before Bush is to pay an official visit to Canada.

Carolyn Parrish, a member of Prime Minister Paul Martin's governing Liberal Party, stomped on a George Bush (news - web sites) doll with her heel in the CBC television show, "This Hour Has 22 Minutes", filmed on Tuesday. The episode aired on Wednesday.

Martin has declared Parrish's previous remarks against Bush to be unacceptable but has repeatedly refused demands that she be turfed from the Liberal caucus.

I didn't hear about that. I recognize the doll-saw an ad for it in an in-flight magazine once during the shrubministration, and promptly fixed it up.

Great! That Shrub Voodoo Doll ad was also hilarious! I'm sure that a generation from now, historians will be calling Baby Bush the worst president the US has ever had. Can you think of a more impeachable offense than taking our country to war on lies and false pretenses?
