better if you had given the whole story..there's probably a video on that in the youtube library...somewhere. Anyway, this readers is what I said. I want to know specifically the law, which "anti-gay enthusiasm" is not:

Russian anti-gay laws? Please tell me about specific Russian gov't laws. I plead completely ignorant. However, I can understand chastizing groups like Pussy Riot. They have desecrated holy sites and I assume that does nothing for their cause, esp. with the Russian Orthodox Church. They would be arrested here too if they put on vile acts in the National Cathedral, don't you think? If I were a member of the LGBT community in Russia, I would not Hold Pussy Riot in high regard.

I think if there were actual laws Rachel would have said so. She is thorough in research. Actually, this is a good thing. Like I've said in another exchange, Russia will come around...eventually, I hope, just as it took our country time to grow up on the subject of LGBT rights. It has been a long road.

I did NOT say I am completely ignorant about arrests of protestors in Russia over LGBT rights which is exemplified in the OP video. When you claim there are anti-gay laws I was just holding you to it.

Reader: the OP involved is a video on youtube about the Festival of Lights in Moscow...the display was the site of a protest of a Pussy Riot member et. al.

Now the LGBT community has a target to get the law changed.

6. What's there to explain. Russia has some raging homophobics.

The U.S. has some raging homophobics. Granted we don't have 'propaganda laws' but many in the LGBT community have sufferred brutal (sometimes even death) treatment. Like I said, it's a long road.

I was curious to see if you are active in the LGBT forums here on DU. Didn't find one OP under your authorship. I guess your interest is centered upon Russia's treatment of the LGBT community. I can only hope that America is serving as a guide to the LGBT community in Russia to change matters for the better.

but at least your replies are getting more reasonable than http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1017&pid=235547

Yes, you're right, it's a long road--and with Putin in power helping the anti-gay, anti-progressive skinhead death squads, a nightmare road.

a bunch of 'he said' , 'she said', and 'claims' at this point. Admitted murderers talk of other thugs who tried to lure them into assassinations because, according to the thugs someone in the Kremlin would be pleased!??? I have tried to find credible sources reporting the same story. So far, nada. I didn't skip over it rather, I found it not worthy of mention but since you've pressed the point.....

Did you find the picture heading the article interesting? Ukrainian flags in the background of the alleged neo-nazis in a story taking place in Russia (?)...makes me think this picture is from Ukraine. The whole thing is a mish mash. Let's wait for the final decision. In the meantime you could write to the Russian ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Krislyak, and voice your displeasure.

9. thank you. a letter/email campaign to the Russian ambassador is not a bad idea

The Czech article is actually the best coverage of this trial in the English language that I can find. It's under-reported, for sure. It's not "he said, she said" but "he testified, she testified."

About those flags, read this: http://reason.com/archives/2014/05/22/fascism-comes-to-ukrainefrom-russia

don't forget this one:

Russia defends anti-gay neo-Nazis, says 1,500 kidnappings never happened

trying too hard to get their point across (if there is one). The one about the flags LOL! I'm done reading your hateful obsessed sites and opinions. My only question is why? Why are you so interested in everything Russian...only the negative stuff? I wish you'd put your energy into making America a better place....we certainly have a lot to improve upon.
