TYT: Chuck Schumer Craps On Obamacare, His Party & Your Intelligence

"Charles Schumer, the third-ranking Democrat in the Senate, has forced a debate over fundamental party priorities out into the open. Should Democrats focus primarily on the problems of the poor or should they first address the economic struggles of the working and middle classes?

It’s not often that a politician provokes conflict within the ranks of his party’s core supporters. Schumer did just that in a National Press Club speech on Nov. 25, three weeks after devastating Democratic losses in Senate, House, gubernatorial and state legislative elections.

According to Schumer, President Obama and his party suffered defeat last month in large part because of the strategic decision to press for enactment of the Affordable Care Act soon after Obama won the presidency."* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

So they had to ram through the Romneycare compromise. Single-payer wouldve been 100x better though.

I think that the subtext to his claim is that, yes, we would have failed to push it through (hurting millions of unisured), but we would contiue to have that as an electoral issue (and would have many more Democrats in Congress as a result).

I lost my job in July and the company out of the goodness of there corporate heart gave me three months insurance that I had to pay for out of my severance checks at what was being taken out in paycheck at the 80% to 20% rate and at the end of that three months, hold on I could purchase the same plan at the COBRA prices and pay 100% of the cost.
Now that I have a contract position for who knows how long, I was offered a plan through there program, hold on I would have to pay over 350.00 per week to get health care at a whooping 1400 per month at the same rate has if I was on COBRA which is 100%.
I have now gone into the sign up period and found and I am seeing how this insurance scam is being perpetuated, (and now that the U.S. Supreme court is basically going after the exchange rates and the payments and will get there hands on the program), I still have to pay over $600 per month in cost.
I then have to make the deduction before I can achieve a reduction in drugs, office visits and other needs if they arise, from which I will never achieve, at a cost of over 20,000 in total costs after all is said and done if something should happen, I will be left holding the bag for the deduction in the plan----just great
I believe that the Affordable Care Act will be dissolved or very much damaged by this court, and if the "Elected Officials" saw this and did nothing, is outrageous, they knew and this smoke and mirror economics politics is all it is.
We have had stagnant wages and losing purchasing power since trickle down economics was instituted under Reagan and his bunch of merry men and women since the 1980's.
Now what we are seeing and hearing is the Monday night quarterbacking and the a lot of individuals trying to distance themselves from why and what caused the party (Democrats) to get there a****s handed to them on a plate is quite disingenuous in it appearance and its presentation by none other than a democrat with high fund raisers in the camp of doing what----nothing, except looking for the blame game mad:
I have written in this and other blogs to what would have made perfect sense, like those presented by Sanders, Thom Hartmann and others and is we ALL have taxes being taken out of our paychecks or other means of earned income and that there is NO ceiling on that EARNED income to cover the social programs that have been in place since the 1930's and in some cases since the 1960's.
All these individuals doing this quarterbacking all they had to say and do was that we should have had a PUBLIC OPTION (UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE), RAISE WAGES on YEARLY BASIS, and other economic and social programs.
And to achieve that PUBLIC OPTION was to raise it from the EARNED INCOME tax and to lower the requirement age so that everyone was covered, this man voted for this act and now he is blaming not himself in it's appearance but those that we were looking for the leadership from the citizens and the party.
Who were yelling and screaming that this would benefit the party and the public perception of those working for the poor and middle class and the party.
So in the long term they / we would have money in there / our pockets, by its definition with the PUBLIC OPTION, RAISED WAGES and other programs and this now would not be in the hands of a right wing U.S. Supreme Court.
If he had done HIS job instead of those for the special interests like insurance companies and the drug companies we would not see individuals in front of a podium trying to be a quarterback
