8. Two points . . .

First, "innocent until proven guilty," a/k/a the presumption of innocence, refers to a person's legal standing before a court of law. It was never intended to foreclose social or even professional opprobrium.

Second, it isn't like it's an isolated case or two. There have been 13 women who have made similar accusations, and they all seem to show a similar M.O. I have seen no evidence to suggest these women are part of any conspiracy against Cosby, therefore I tend to think that where there is smoke, there is fire.

...when I heard this schtick in 1969 it sounded exactly like the kind of stuff we used to talk about when we were 13. Yes, it sounds a bit ominous now that we've heard about what Cosby has been up to, but the bit, in and off itself, was an innocently funny take on the first discussions of sexual topics among adolescents. Are we going to start digging up Robin Williams riffs to expose what a pervert he really was?
