when a dictator invades parts of Europe while speechifying about "New (insert country name here)" under the excuse of protecting "ethnic (insert nationality here)" then it's no longer Godwin's Law -- it's basic history repeating itself.

Obama's foreign policy is controlled by Neo Cons like Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs Victoria Nuland*.
Nuland worked for Dick Cheney and her husband founded PNAC

Neocons and the Ukraine Coup
February 23, 2014
Robert Parry

Exclusive: American neocons helped destabilize Ukraine and engineer the overthrow of its elected government, a “regime change” on Russia’s western border. But the coup – and the neo-Nazi militias at the forefront – also reveal divisions within the Obama administration, reports Robert Parry.
...
Over the past several weeks, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was undercut by a destabilization campaign encouraged by Nuland and Pyatt and then deposed in a coup spearheaded by neo-Nazi militias. Even after Yanukovych and the political opposition agreed to an orderly transition toward early elections, right-wing armed patrols shattered the agreement and took strategic positions around Kiev.

Despite these ominous signs, Ambassador Pyatt hailed the coup as “a day for the history books.” Most of the mainstream U.S. news media also sided with the coup, with commentators praising the overthrow of an elected government as “reform.” But a few dissonant reports have pierced the happy talk by noting that the armed militias are part of the Pravy Sektor, a right-wing nationalist group which is often compared to the Nazis.

Why Have So Many Ukrainians Fled to Russia?
The REAL NEWS reports: Journalist Vladislav Gulevich says that many of the 730,000 Ukrainian refugees in Russia see the Ukrainian military as the main threat to their lives
...
WORONCZUK: The statistics that I've heard, something about a hundred thousand Ukrainians have been displaced within Ukraine, but as I mentioned before, the UN says it's hundreds of thousands. Why have the majority of Ukrainian refugees fled to Russia and not to the more western regions of Ukraine?
GULEVICH: Because these refugees see the Ukrainian army as the main threat to their life, because Ukrainian army indiscriminately and with no scruples shells civilians, bombs civilians, and there are a lot of victims--I mean civilians--of these shellings. That's why the majority of the refugees try to escape, to save their life, trying to escape to Russia, and they see Russia as the sister country, as the nearest friend, and they seek their shelter and food.
WORONCZUK: Okay. And what are the conditions for the residents who remain in Donetsk and Lugansk, which are the principal cities in which there is a rebel stronghold?
GULEVICH: I see. You know, it's a real humanitarian catastrophe. The situation is a very dreadful, because the inhabitants are out of water, out of power supplies, out of clothes. Ukraine doesn't care, and the Ukrainian authorities don't provide them with their own necessities. And the people are all the time shelled. They're bombed by aviation. They're shelled by heavy artillery mortars. The victims toll is all the time enhanced. Every day, more and more people are dead, among them women, among them elderly people, among them even kids. Sometimes it occurs so that a mother and a kid are killed together. You know, it's very touching and the situation is very bad.
All the people actually there hope Russia will come, but nobody knows what happens, whether it comes or not.

11. Seven Decades of Nazi Collaboration: America’s Dirty Little Ukraine Secret
Mon Oct 13, 2014, 01:00 PM

The US supported the overthrow of Ukraine's democratically elected president. A rascal he was, but he was not a Nazi and he didn't want Ukraine to go bankrupt nor did he want austerity measures enacted as the IMF would require. So the US spent $5 Billion getting him deposed by supporting his overthrow. You see, if Ukraine joins the EU, it goes into debt to the IMF, and will be required to cut wages, pensions, sell off properties to multi national corporations like Monsanto, Frackers, etc to pay the IMF loans.

About the coup that overthrew Ukraine's elected govt this February:

Seven Decades of Nazi Collaboration: America’s Dirty Little Ukraine Secret

"...The key organization in the coup that took place here recently was the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists [OUN], or a specific branch of it known as the Banderas [OUN-B]. They’re the group behind the Svoboda party, which got a number of key positions in the new interim regime. The OUN goes back to the 1920s, when they split off from other groups, and, especially in the 1930s, began a campaign of assassinating and otherwise terrorizing people who didn’t agree with them."

Who was Stephan Bandera?
Bandera was a leader of Ukraine's nationalist movement in the 1930s and 1940s, which included an insurgent army that fought alongside Nazi soldiers during part of the Second World War

Russian speaking people of eastern Ukraine are fighting against Nazis.
The Nazis brought the fight to them, all the eastern Ukraine wants to do is live.
The new govt is trying to ethnically clean Ukraine of any Russian speaking people.
750,000 Ukrainians have fled the country, over 2,000 have been killed by their own government.

Ukraine crisis: the neo-Nazi brigade fighting pro-Russian separatists

Kiev throws paramilitaries – some openly neo-Nazi - into the front of the battle with rebels
...
The Azov men use the neo-Nazi Wolfsangel (Wolf’s Hook) symbol on their banner and members of the battalion are openly white supremacists, or anti-Semites.
...
“The historic mission of our nation in this critical moment is to lead the White Races of the world in a final crusade for their survival,” he wrote in a recent commentary. “A crusade against the Semite-led Untermenschen.”
The battalion itself is founded on right wing views, the commander said in Urzuf, and no Nazi convictions could exclude a recruit.
