Every time I see this ad, or one of the ten others in its series, I start to shudder. It’s not just the Sturm-und-Drang music and the sheer weirdness of the script (“We are surrounded by a world that demands we submit, succumb, and believe in nothing…. the cowards who pretend they don’t notice the elderly man fall and who walk right past the little girl who’s way too young to be here alone, who raise the volume to silence the scream in the night”). It’s also creepy because you don’t find out until the very end what product it’s shilling. But here’s a hint: watching it, you might just feel like you have a gun pointed at your head. Agree, or else.

The NRA ... fear mongering at it's worst. Disgusting beyond words.

Is you don't need a gun to help the elderly man to his feet.
You don't need a gun to ask the alone young girl if you can help her find her parents.
You don't need a gun to respond in many various ways to a scream in the night.
A gun solves none of these problems.
You don't need a gun, period!

14. But, if you had a gun, you need not worry about...

...the old man, or the little girl, or the screams. Your duty as a citizen is to buy a gun, or many guns, and people will look up to you, or fear you. You will command respect, especially from the old man, the little girl, and the screamers. How that helps them, is anyone's guess. The point is that you will never 'be' them.

Of course, nobody likes you, but that's another story.
