I have watched BP buy off the Obama administration who allowed BP to control the Coast Guard. They even had the Coast Guard spraying the Corexit all over the Gulf. BP put up $600,000,000 in What they called the "Common Benefit Fund" that the Plaintiff's Steering Committee (PSC) gets only if the one-sided Class Action Settlement goes through to completion. The PSC is a group of law firms picked by the Judge to represent all victims of the spill and prosecute the case against BP. Immediately after this came into being the Judges rulings went in favor of BP. We attempted to "Opt Out" our 14,000 clients and the judge ruled we could not do it for our clients despite having a Power of Attorney to do so. The client had to sign and return on a very short deadline. After that the Judge twice sent letter to our clients without notifying us, their attorneys, that he extended the Opt In deadline and provided a form and stamped envelope to return it to the settlement authorities.
People do not understand what all of that money can do for a company like BP. They OWN our politicians! So just imagine what power all of the fossil fuel companies combined can do!
