I don't disagree with your sentiment, but the term "redneck" is derogatory. n/t phylny Aug 2014 #7

. . . "Let's not smear a whole demographic with a derogatory term like 'redneck.'" There are people that otherwise fit the redneck description but are kind, thoughtful, and intelligent -- everything we think rednecks cannot be. Just using the term "redneck" may seem to imply that everyone who dresses the way he does and talks with an accent like his -- and, I guess, drives a pick-up truck -- is ignorant.

Zat right, phylny?

Let me go and light some candles and say 5 Hail Mary's for this officer/military veteran who would shoot a black person in the grocery line just to get faster service.

He rants about the illegitimacy of the Iraq-Afghanistan war, but he stayed in the military to support the travesty. He only quit after the election of the first Black president who he describes as an "illegal alien." This guy is a world class hater. Sad to say, but the US military has many members who share his views. As the military continues to infiltrate police departments, we will see more shootings of unarmed citizens. What can you expect from a trained killer who trusts no one and hates everyone. Clearly, he hates some more than others. If the US is destroyed it will be by people like this guy. If he's no longer in law enforcement, we should all be relieved. We can only hope that he also loses his "secret security clearance."

Page's distinction between " constitutional rights and civil rights" is insane. Civil rights are constitutional rights that the majority has withheld from the minority to serve their own economic, political or religious purposes. While the constitution is based on Christian principles; freedom of religion also means freedom from religion. No religious group can control the government, not even Christians. People of other faiths and non- believers have a right to pursue happiness also. Avoidance of theocracy is our.best defense against self-destruction.

While I would not agree that 'the constitution is based on Christian principles', the rest of this is so sound that is hardly worth the quibble.
