I worked summers for Ford in the late 60s, and Vietnam returnees on the line were really hurting, attendance was poor on Mondays and especially Fridays, products were starting to decline (to lows in 70s). The corporados controlled the Governor recently, taking more than a dozen cities from voter control and gave them to political appointees by the Gov., these non-voted Czars are selling off valuable parts of the cities they control such as the water works of Detroit to private profiteers. Why were these cities in debt trouble? Besides white flight and loss of tax bases, the cities like Detroit were convinced to make bad investments and weren't bailed out, instead they were sold out. Now, I haven't lived in Michigan since 1972, but I stay informed and visit friends/family. Water is a basic right and should not be taken away, but "plans" to pay bills need to be used and the water itself, just as air we need to breathe should not be on a profit basis...and this is the water problem.
