http://www.democracynow.org - As a new 72-hour ceasefire takes hold in Gaza, we turn to part two of our interview with world-renowned dissident and linguist, MIT professor Noam Chomsky. Criticizing U.S. media coverage of the Israeli assault on Gaza, Chomsky says: "It’s a shameful moment for U.S. media when it insists on being subservient to the grotesque propaganda agencies of a violent, aggressive state." Chomsky also discusses his longstanding view that popular pressure at home is critical to ending the U.S. government’s backing for Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. “The United States continues to provide the critical, decisive support for the atrocities," he says. "Sooner or later, it’s possible—and that’s really up to us—that domestic pressure will compel the U.S. government to join the world on this issue. That will be a decisive change.”

Chomsky is correct about that. A change in US policy, though, is still a long way off.

4. I know that this may be quite off topic but..

Where does Chomsky find those blue workshirts, and why does he wear them?
Clearly he could be wearing the traditional suit and tie, but he seems to be seen more in those blue workshirts, which we could find back in the 70s fairly cheaply, but can not be found anywhere for a reasonable amount of money.
Perhaps he wants to look more like the working class person that he is, and came from, but who knows?

Just a passing thought.

I tend to agree with most everything that Chomsky has to say. It is well thought out, well sourced, and conveys a point of view that we never see in the mainstream media.

5. Just guessing, those shirts actually do date back to the 70's

I still have garments dating back to the 60's/70's. Then there's always thrift shops and "vintage" shops.
