A year ago, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory signed one of the worst voter suppression laws in American history. And last week, a federal judge decided that this law could go into effect. This sets a horrific precedent for voter suppression laws, and begs the question: where does it end?
Ring of Fire's Mike Papantonio and progressive radio host David Pakman discuss this story.

(5,106 posts)Especially thanks for emphasizing how badly the then Democratic hierarchy (Rahm and Co.) screwed over Howard Dean, who could have been a savior for the party. All the recent strategies of the Republican party show a desperate and dying last gasp. They resort to voter supression and gerrymandering to maintain control of the vote. This can't go on for very long, but they'll die trying! If they continue to oppose the policies that a growing majority of citizens want, rather than adjust to views other than that of rich, old white guys, the end is in sight for them. I hope to last long enough to see that. The only alternative is a bloody revolution, which is unlikely as long as the less than 1% are placated. But Republican assaults on the "safety net,' and increasing greed at the top show a very shortsighted 1%. FDR headed this off eighty-some years ago. It doesn't look as if anyone in charge is paying attention today.

(52,589 posts)by law in law making bodies of my state as well as the House of Representatives. It is also part and parcel of the the Third Way and it's neglect of the traditional democratic coalition I grew up with. The Third Way and it's desire to produce their Ronald Reagan after 1980 sank us all. And they still have the gall to tell us to sit down and they are moderates trying to win elections.
