I would not let them quote either Leviticus or Paul. One was pretty much annulled by his anti legalist life, preaching, and death and the other was a huckster who never met Jesus.

I would also have a humanist celebration of his life at the funeral home and goodbyes at the grave. I would never set foot in that church again. Everyone would know my friend/lover/relative had been well loved in life and that is the measure of a life well lived.
