Actor and Activist Mark Ruffalo attended the Detroit Water Shutoffs Protests at Netroots Nation on July 18, 2014. Upwards to 3,000 Detroit Residents per week with an inability to pay water bills due to a 40% average poverty rate in the city, have been subject to shutoffs.

Protest was organized by National Nurses United, Robin Hood Tax USA with the support of the National Writers Union.

Can't prove it, but it is suspected the "Wage Love" quote was a shout out to Charity Hicks - A Detroit Based Environmental Activist who was credited for starting the Detroit Water Brigade, that recently died in a Hit and Run accident in NYC.

An online fundraiser is being held on behalf of her family and associated burial costs -- and Mr. Ruffalo did donate to the fundraiser in her honor. In addition, he Tweeted about Ms. Hicks untimely death which caused more attention to the efforts of the DWB and The People's Water Board - Detroit, receiving national and international news focus.

The Normal Heart. But most people on DU will never see it because of their own personal bigotry toward gay people, the story being about a gay activist. Too bad for the small minds of DU, it's a great film. Maybe after it wins a bunch of Emmy awards the straights will bother to watch it.

“The Normal Heart” premiered Sunday to above-average numbers for an original HBO movie, drawing nearly 1 million viewers for its initial telecast, according to Nielsen estimates.

The adaptation of Larry Kramer’s play about the early days of the AIDS epidemic also drew about 435,000 viewers for a repeat later that night, bringing its total to about 1.4 million. That places it fifth in viewership among the 17 HBO Films that premiered on the network since 2010.

The recent ratings champ for an HBO Film was last year’s “Behind the Candelabra,” whose 2.39 million viewers on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend made it the premium cabler’s most watched original film in nine years. In 2012, “Game Change” drew 2.12 million.

“Normal Heart” was directed by Ryan Murphy and starred Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch, Jim Parsons and Julia Roberts.
