Thank You Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.....For the Children~

Last edited Fri Jul 18, 2014, 09:46 PM - Edit history (1)

The real deal

But it stood out to me because that's how I feel like I've spent most of my time following politics...looking for the real deal. One of the reasons I've followed President Obama so closely is that I finally felt like I found just that.

The real deal doesn't come along very often in politics. But I had that same reaction today when I watched this video of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick talk about his plans to work with the federal government to provide shelter for the unaccompanied children who have come here from Central America. You can skip to about 4:45 on the video to see the pertinent portion.

Patrick offered two reasons for his decision. One is the U.S. tradition of helping children from other nations in need. The other, Patrick explained, is deeply personal.

"I believe that we will one day have to answer for our actions and our inactions. My faith teaches that 'if a stranger dwells with you in your land, you shall not mistreat him,' but rather 'love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt,'" Patrick said , quoting scripture, as he grew visibly emotional.

Thank you Governor Patrick for being the Real Deal. Please take a moment to watch~ Well done Sir and well done Massachusetts.

Wish his exemplary speech set a precedent but unfortunately, I feel it is the exception rather than the rule in our fair country.

he's got new hair and fake spectacles!

"The New Colossus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

parents loved them so much they wanted them to be alive over getting to be with them. No doubt of the love they'll receive in Massachusetts!

I would love to be able to spend some time with them and use the Espanol I learned in San Diego but they're not coming to Hawai'i. I read my hometown, Denver, Colorado is going to hold out their arms too.

It would be so hard but I would send my kids to where it could be safe for them.. a chance at a life so far away. It's mind boggling just thinking it.

Those Hate Preachers in Murrieta, CA.. look smaller and smaller by now.
